Vice Admiral Paras Nath (Retd) AVSM, VSM served the Indian Navy for 40 years before retiring as its Chief of Logistics (COL). Major hallmarks of the time as COL were total automation of inventory management, automation and paperless transactions in dealing with vendors and OEMs. Management of machinery spares, clothing, victualing, Pay & Allowances and infrastructure development took a quantum jump during his tenure.
During his career with the Navy, he held numerous challenging appointments onboard ships and establishments including operational involvement in peace keeping operations off Sri Lanka. As Controller of Material Planning (Visakhapatnam) after the breakup of the Soviet Union, which had led to a challenging environment for sourcing of spare parts and in stock assets, he undertook innovative means in resolving the emerging situation. He was part of the empowered logistics delegation to Russia and Ukraine to source and procure spares. He commanded INS Hamla, the alma mater of logisticians and also commanded Material Organisation (Mumbai). He held other senior appointments including Chief Staff Officer (Personnel and Administration) of Western Naval Command, Assistant Controller of Logistics and Program Director (Personnel and Administration/ ATVP).
Vice Admiral Paras Nath is an alumni of National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, College of Defence Management and National Defence College. He has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) by the President of India for distinguished service of an exceptional order.
Post retirement from the Indian Navy, he has worked as an independent fulltime Director in Power Wind Ltd, looking after wind energy and installation of wind mills in United Kingdom and Europe. He has now taken over as Group President and CEO of Crown Group.
